Hey, I’m Alice, welcome!

I am a cook, recipe developer, food photographer, all around food lover and voice behind Sugarsalted.

My passion for food started in my childhood, by watching my mom and grandmother make delicious meals from scratch. I was always on the sidelines trying to help and steal a bite or two. Despite my love of food, I initially set out to study English.

A few years down the line, I realized that out of all the books (and there were plenty!), cookbooks were what brought me the most joy. I began posting recipes online and the rest is history!

The name Sugarsalted comes from the two things you can’t cook (or bake) without – sugar and salt. The food I make is inspired by my Slovenian heritage, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and meatless cooking. I aim to create recipes that are approachable for the home cook, but still exciting to make.

Alice lives in Slovenia, a pocket-sized country in central Europe, with her partner and cats. Find her on Instagram, her YouTube channel and on Substack, where she shares more of her life.
